Vinten Radamec launches Vector 750i at IBC 2010

06/09/2010

Vinten Radamec®, a Vitec Group brand and a global leader in camera supports, will unveil its first encoded pantographic head at IBC2010, the Vector 750i.  Developed in collaboration with leading global customers, this flagship product is the encoded version of the popular Vector 750 and is designed for unsurpassed precision in virtual reality environments, for both outside broadcast and studio applications.

The Vector 750i pan and tilt head incorporates a new Intelligence Module allowing semi automatic set-up, slide plate tracking and kinematic compensation to ensure stable and accurate placement of virtual graphics into the live environment.

One of the close development partners for the Vector 750i is TrackMen in Germany.  “As a developer of tracking software, we were very excited to be approached by Vinten to aid in the development phase of its new Vector 750i, and to trial the product in some of our virtual reality environments,” said Thorsten Mika, director of TrackMen. “Typically our customers like to deploy multiple cameras on tripods or pedestals for virtual graphics.  The new Vector 750i enables us to react to the various demands of our clients - with the same head - and to continue to deliver top-class tracking systems."

Within such an environment, the Vector 750i’s unique slide plate adjustment incorporates measuring devices to allow for repositioning in mid-broadcast, such as when the lens mechanism alters the camera balance point.  Meanwhile, the distinctive pantographic balance mechanism raises or lowers the cameras when the balance is adjusted, again enabling the operator to make mid-broadcast camera adjustments.

The new Vector 750i also includes a unique optional inclinometer feature that has been developed to solve the challenge of platform movement and compensates any camera movement caused by, for example, another person stepping onto an unstable camera position.

Andrew Butler, product manager adds, “The Vector 750i has been developed in collaboration with customers like Trackmen and so meets real user requirements.  There is a rapid growing demand for encoded heads in the live broadcasting space and we know it’s important that key players globally have the operational flexibility they need in the studio or out on the field, and to seamlessly integrate virtual reality graphics into their live productions.”

The Vector 750i addresses these key requirements whilst maintaining all of the market leading functionality of the Vector 750, making this pan and tilt head an ideal choice for large camera combinations where virtual reality is required - now or in the future.

Vinten will be demoing its new Vector 750i at IBC2010 on stand 11.F60, near the Production Village.
