Vinten Radamec Makes IBC2011 a Virtual Reality

11/09/2011

Vinten Radamec®, a Vitec Group brand and world leader in robotic camera support systems, is highlighting its full capabilities at IBC2011 by integrating its solutions in a virtual reality set up with the industry leading graphics provider, Orad. Vinten Radamec’s extensive range shows how the company’s open systems are ready to work with any graphics solutions provider to achieve the ultimate in virtual reality technology.

Vinten Radamec is demonstrating its encoded manual pedestal, the Quattro SE, which provides precise real-time digital electronic positioning over the floor and in elevation, in combination with the Vector 430i encoded pan and tilt head. Connection to an Orad graphics rendering system then showcases the full benefits of 3D virtual reality tracking.

As use of virtual reality systems transcends the traditional newsroom environment into an ever-widening number of broadcast applications, Vinten Radamec has responded with VR-specific versions of their market-leading products, including the Fusion FP-188VR pedestal and FHR-120VR head.

Vinten Radamec has seen a significant increase in demand for virtual reality systems this year and sees strong trends in the virtual reality sector, including virtual advertising and product placement as broadcast companies look for more sophisticated ways to convey their messages to TV audiences.

Speaking at IBC2011, Karen Walker, commercial manager at Vinten Radamec says: “Virtual reality is rapidly moving further into the mainstream and we’re seeing more examples of it on our own screens than ever before. There are elements of virtual reality cropping up in everything from computer generated characters in children’s programmes, to virtual reality graphics at major sporting events as broadcasters take advantage of the latest technological advancements.”

Walker continues: “Applications are expanding beyond the more common studio-based presentations. If we interpret the recent high levels of interest coming from some of the major global broadcasters, there will be a rapid increase in several key areas in the near future. There is a great buzz surrounding virtual reality in the industry at the moment – television looks set to be revolutionised with a surge in virtual advertising and product placement right through to the full transformation of programme sets.”

Walker concludes: “Visitors to our stand at this year’s IBC2011 can see the full diversity of virtual reality equipment for themselves, and how it is fast becoming the ultimate tool for broadcasters to be able to differentiate the quality of their product.”

The extensive range of Vinten Radamec robotic camera support solutions can be seen on booth 11.D61 throughout IBC2011.
