Proven solutions for coverage of legislatures and public buildings at NAB
Vinten Radamec®, a Vitec Group brand, is showing at 2010 NAB the latest generation of its control systems for automated camera coverage of legislatures, courtrooms, conference centres and other public buildings. This includes the new Legislative Control System (LCS), already in use in the Swedish parliament.

Television coverage from debating chambers such as legislatures is normally subject to strict regulation, focussing solely on the delegate speaking without distractions. The cameras themselves need to be unobtrusive yet capable of a wide range of movement and precise positioning, and the control system must be largely automated while giving the operator scope to trim each shot.
In an application such as the Swedish parliament when a member is called upon to speak, his or her microphone will be activated. This signals to the LCS, which identifies the camera that can offer the best shot, and moves and zooms it into position. “For parliaments, courts and other formal bodies, television coverage is becoming a matter of routine,” explains Vinten Radamec’s product manager, Karen Walker. “Our role is to provide the right pictures at the right time,” she adds.
The Vinten Radamec solution for legislatures and public buildings is designed to be highly scalable. The LCS connects with robotic pan and tilt cameras over Ethernet, and is capable of managing a very large number, making the system equally suited to all applications from a handful of cameras in a conference centre to a multi-chamber parliamentary building.
Vinten Radamec is showing the LCS and robotic cameras for legislatures alongside its solutions for virtual reality environments and for newsrooms and production studios at 2010 NAB. Through the use of open standards Vinten Radamec’s advanced robotics technologies can be easily integrated into larger systems, whatever the application.
Vinten Radamec can be found on Booth C6025 in the Central Hall at 2010 NAB, Las Vegas Convention Center, 12 – 15 April.
